Approach

Make Work Flow

The workflow-first approach behind my consulting, development and training work.

Understand the work before choosing the tool.

Make Work Flow brings together a framework, common workflow patterns and field notes. It supports how I work through Harvest Point Consulting.

  1. Observe the work

Understand what actually happens, including the exceptions.

  2. Map the flow

Make the movement of information, responsibility and decisions visible.

  3. Find the friction

Identify where work stalls, repeats or depends on someone’s memory.

  4. Redesign the handoff

Clarify what the next person needs and who owns the outcome.

  5. Add automation carefully

Choose where technology helps, with clear boundaries for human judgement.

How this connects to the practice

The methodology is public thinking. Harvest Point Consulting is where I apply it to a business’s own context, requirements and constraints.

The published site includes field notes and six use-case patterns. Its downloadable resources are currently marked “Coming soon”. A separate booking demonstration illustrates one conversational workflow; it is not evidence of a customer deployment.

Start with the situation.

A workflow problem, a project or a professional opportunity. A short note is enough to begin.
